“Trust in the Lord, not in your own understanding.”

Proverbs 3:1-6

If we are asked about the shortness of life, and perhaps more so about going “before our time”, what comes to mind? St Alphonsus Liguori once said, “Act as if every day were the last day of your life, and each action the last you perform.”

To live in this way requires great trust in the Lord, surrendering everything to Him. Such trust frees us from fear and anxiety, allowing us to live with peace, knowing that God is in control. We can also trust in His mercy at the end of our lives, to place our loved ones in His care when we are no longer here, and to believe that if we must endure suffering, He will be with us.

To live as though there is no time is to live life to the fullest. Today, we ask God to help us entrust our entire lives to Him—the one here on earth, and the one who awaits us in heaven.
