“As the deer pants for streams of water so my soul pants for you, my God.”
Psalm 42:1–4
Do we long for God more than anything else we can imagine? We may be uncertain of our answer, but make no mistake that deep within us all lies that desire. It is a desire born from the bond between a father and child, and we respond like a child returning to their father. At times, however, we become so preoccupied with earthly things that we fail to recognise or nurture that desire. We must allow that longing to rise to the surface.
This desire is not only about meeting Him when our life on earth has ended, but also about encountering Him here and now in prayer. From Him we draw life and hope through prayer, sustaining us through our earthly journey. We learn to rely on Him in all things, and only then can He lead us safely into His arms in the end.
