“The beheading of John the Baptist.”

Matthew 14:1-12

Today, we witness the beheading of John the Baptist as a result of his fidelity in proclaiming God’s message. And we see a similar turn in Jesus’ crucifixion, where he sacrifices his life for the salvation of all. Many times, we can be impulsive with our decisions and stray away from God’s will. Often, we can be conflicted between the major decision and the easy or comfortable one. What is it that God is asking us to remain faithful in? Do we consult the Lord for help and strength?

The way to the Lord is the way of justice, fidelity and love for all. The more we focus on the Father, the clearer our way is to hear his voice. It is through prayer that we can practice the art of listening to God and discerning our decisions to what is right and just. Let us be guided today to have that firmness of faith when faced with difficult decisions and to trust that God will help guide us in his footsteps.
