“Zaccheus, come down…”
Lk 19:1-10
We receive a lot of messages in life about being focused, achieving goals and making money. These are things that Zaccheus was obviously good at. We can see this from his role as chief tax collector, his wealth, and his determination to see Jesus.
He didn’t let obstacles like others’ opinions or his height get in the way of him seeing Jesus. He was judged as a greater sinner than others, yet when he experienced Jesus, his generosity was also greater than most. Jesus does not look at our lives in the same way we do, he recognises our capacity even when it may not be used in service of his will and invites us to welcome him into our homes and to turn our lives around like Zaccheus.
