Friday 10th of April
“Jesus stepped forward, took the bread and gave it to them, and the same with the fish.”
John 21:1-14
We can imagine that we are St Peter. He had just rejected Jesus and lost his saviour and Lord. Jesus had appointed him as leader of the church, but he didn’t take up that role. Instead, he retreated to his old life of fishing, and the disciples followed him.
Then Jesus reached out to him the same way that He originally called him. Peter and his friends worked all night fishing, relying on themselves, but they caught nothing. Jesus gave them a miraculous catch of fish. Peter was so excited that he jumped out of his boat again and went towards Him. Jesus proved that He was real and not a ghost by stepping forward and giving them the bread and fish. We can feel St Peter’s joy as He realised that Jesus had fulfilled His promises and risen from the dead to save us. Jesus, please help us to always recognise you and to come back to you when we have rejected you. Please always renew our faith as you did with St Peter when we turn away from you.
