“Go out to the whole world and proclaim the Good News.”
Mark 16:9-15
While Jesus scolded the disciples for their lack of faith and stubbornness, he still sent them out to preach the gospel to all people. We might ask, why did Jesus send them when they themselves struggled to believe in his resurrection? But aren’t we also like the disciples at times, faithless, stubborn, and untrusting? We all fall short, BUT we are still called to carry out the mission.
The mission is not only for the perfect or the holy. Sometimes, it is through our imperfections, insecurities and even our struggles with sin that we can empathise with others and show them kindness and compassion. However, we also remember that Jesus does not send us out alone. We go to proclaim the good news with him by our side. So as we go out today, as followers of Christ, we can trust that we are sent just as we are, with Jesus beside us, and he will help us.
