Friday 24th of October
“If you knew the gift of God….you would have asked him and he would have given you living water.”
John4:1-10
Today, we are invited to take the place of the Samaritan woman. As we begin our prayer, let us ask ourselves: Where do we find ourselves at this moment? Where are we going to draw water from? Which “well” are we turning to for nourishment and strength? Are we drawing from the well of living water, or are we seeking fulfilment elsewhere? Imagine Jesus coming to meet us right where we are. He gently asks us, “Give me a drink.” How do we respond to this question? At first, the Samaritan woman was surprised, perhaps even confused, by Jesus’ request. Maybe there are parts of us that also find it unusual or difficult to understand why Jesus would ask us for something. Bring those thoughts to Him. Speak with Him about it in your prayer. Because as we enter into this conversation with Jesus, we begin to realise something deeper: It is actually He who wants to give us a drink.
He says, “If you only knew the gift of God, and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him, and he would have given you living water.” Today, let us come to prayer with humility and openness. Let us dare to ask Jesus for that living water, to satisfy the thirst and longing we carry within us. A thirst for a life rooted in Him, a life lived in deep, loving connection with the One who knows and loves us completely.
