“How can I repay the Lord for all his goodness to me?”

Psalm 115 (116) 12- 13, 15-18

We invite you today to read the whole psalm, which is a prayer of thanksgiving for recovery from illness. The psalmist is grateful because the Lord has heard his voice of supplication and saved him from “the snares of the grave.” After this experience, the psalmist questions, “How can I repay the Lord, for all his goodness to me?” Gratitude and thanksgiving are born in the heart of someone who has experienced God’s Divine intervention.

In our relationship with the Holy Trinity, how grateful are we for all the goodness shown to us from our Father through circumstances, people and the grace of God in prayer with the Word? Even in the events that seem contrary, God works them towards our good. We are, I am sure, familiar with the saying: “God writes straight on crooked lines.” Start your day today from the moment you wake with gratitude. How do you recognise God’s providence even in challenging or mundane situations? How thankful are we even for the simple blessings of life, both on a material (health, shelter, food) and spiritual level (faith, hope, love, community)
