Friday 4th of April
“They would have arrested him, but his time had not yet come.”
John 7:1-2,10,25-30
As we draw ever closer to Easter, we see in the gospel reading that the Jewish authorities were slowly increasing in their hostility towards Jesus and were looking for the opportunity to arrest him. They could not accept what he was saying and who he claimed to be. However, we are told his time for this suffering, death, and resurrection had not come.
Are there times when our minds and hearts are closed to Jesus and his actions in our lives? Do we at times claim to know more or better than Jesus, the one sent from the father? Perhaps we could allow Jesus to say to us today, “Yes, you know me, and you know where I come from.” We could start a dialogue with Jesus, Lord: Do I know you? Could you reveal yourself to me more so that I can get to know you more?
Jesus, in these days leading to Easter, help us draw near to you and walk beside you.
