Friday 6th of December
“In a very short time, the deaf will hear and the eyes of the blind will see.”
Isaiah 29:17-24
The prophet Isaiah speaks words of hope to a people who became a small and powerless nation and who was also surrounded by powerful nations oppressing it. Their faith in God became nominal, and they adopted the gods and cults of the powerful pagan nations instead. They lost their faith in God alone and sought security and prosperity outside of his values. It is in this context that the prophet Isaiah speaks to the people.
In times of adversity and difficulties, where do we place our trust? Isaiah is one of the precursors in the Season of Advent, which means he anticipates the coming of the Messiah. Isaiah is a prophet of hope. No matter our situation, God will restore our hearing of the “words of the book” and our sight to see and experience God again.
