“Store up treasure for yourselves in heaven.”

Matthew 6:19-23

What is the treasure we are building and where do we tend to store it? Maybe we hoard it and try to keep it safe – memories, ideas, money, belongings or experiences. What can it tell us about our hearts? Who or what are we protecting that we don’t trust in God, the eternal life, that we want to stay in the realm we know better, on earth?

The vulnerabilities we hold and the desires of our heart are safe in heaven . We don’t need to store up treasures for protection or safety, but we can experience and place value on treasures that are lasting, building on good works, acts of love and relationship building and times of prayer.
