“Remember that in your life good things came your way…”

Luke 16:19-31

In today’s reading, Jesus gives us the parable of the rich man and Lazarus. Lazarus, lived on the doorstep of the rich man and would have gladly eaten the scraps that fell from his table. Both lived very different lives, yet they shared the same fate in death, as will be the reality for each of us.

Living in Australia, we have so much to be grateful for. The poverty of others around the world would most likely shock us if we really saw how others around the world live. Are we aware of the many good things that have come our way? How is God asking me to be generous with what he has given me? In this season of Lent, how are we practicing the pillar of almsgiving? Who is at my gate, lying on my doorstep? Today we can dialogue with Jesus about these things, and see how he may move us to action and change.
