“Let us kill him: then we shall see what becomes of his dreams.”

Genesis 37:3-4,12-13,17-28

How do we respond when we are treated as less important than someone else, when another is given higher status or more esteem than us? Maybe we want to eliminate the apparent cause of our jealousy as Joseph’s brothers did. God can see us and esteem us beyond any other human including our own parents.

Are we open to placing our sense of identity and worth in him? What stops us from doing this? As Joseph placed his trust in Jesus, he was unafraid to stay true to himself regardless of the circumstances in which he found himself and what others around him said and did. He was consistent from this place of confidence and love whether he was being praised, ridiculed, imprisoned or celebrated.
