“The way you think is not God’s way, but man.”
Mark 8:27-33
In today’s reading, Jesus asks us, ‘who do you say that I am?’ In other words, Who am I to you? We are invited to consider whether our image of Jesus really matches up with our true thoughts and actions. For example, if we answer that Jesus is our Lord, do we really let him lead and be the centre of our life? If we say Jesus is our best friend, do we always go to him first when we have something exciting or troubling to share? If we say he is our rock, do we have boundless confidence in him, or do we fear he will let us down? Today, let us set our minds on Jesus and seek after the will of God, whose thoughts are not our thoughts, not are our ways his ways. “As high as the heavens are above the earth, so high are my ways above your ways and my thoughts above your thoughts.” Is 55:8-9
