“Not everyone who says Lord, Lord will enter the kingdom of God….”

Matthew 7: 21-28

Sometimes we can think that we are prayerful people because we have spent 10 minutes in prayer before going to bed, but perhaps we have disconnected from Jesus for the rest of the day. We don’t want to be Sunday Christians, who only try to live out their faith when they are at church. How can we keep the connection with Jesus alive throughout the day?

We may find that a particular word or phrase in the reading struck us during our prayer. We can plan moments of reflection at certain times during our day when we try to remember what Jesus said to us. We may also find it helpful to review our day in the morning or before we go to bed. We can learn from the example of St Ignatius who founded the Jesuit order, and Pope Francis who is a Jesuit. Jesus, please help us to see reasons to be thankful to our Father, thoughts and actions to be sorry for and commitments that we can make for the coming day to help your kingdom come.
