“’ I am not worthy to have you under my roof: give the word, and my servant will be healed’”
Matthew 8:5-11
Jesus’ compassion extends to all people, whatever their race, status or religion. Jesus looks into our hearts and desires, just like he did with the centurion. His faith was so great that he was convinced that Jesus’ word alone would heal his servant. How many times do we truly believe in God’s word in our time of deepest needs, either for others or ourselves? Perhaps we are tempted to look at other people and things to bring healing and reassurance. Do we believe that God’s word is the ultimate answer to our healing?
Let us take the leap of faith like this centurion and believe that God’s word alone can heal us and our brothers and sisters. Many people in our lives and the world need God’s mercy and healing. Let us pray to Jesus and experience his healing words in our lives.
