“The harvest is rich, but the labourers are few.”

Matthew 9: 32-37

During COVID, food was wasted because farmers could not find enough workers to harvest the crops. The farmers must have felt very frustrated because not only were they losing money, their work of planting the seeds and growing the produce was being wasted at a time when so many people are starving.

Jesus has a similar problem. He has compassion for people who have not heard the good news because they are harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. He sees how much people are suffering from loneliness and spiritual starvation. He wants so much for the fruit of the Holy Spirit to be shared to satisfy their hunger. Jesus offers us citizenship to the kingdom of Heaven and an eternal reward which is so much greater than earthly wages. He entrusts us with His authority for us to go out and do His work. Jesus, please help us to be your faithful workers, so that You can bring your good news and healing to everyone in need.
