St Peter and Paul
“You will be able to tell them by their fruits.”
Matthew 7:15-20
In today’s reading, Jesus warns ‘beware of false prophets, who come in sheep’s clothing, but underneath are ravenous wolves’. There are many things in the world today that promise to make our life easier or better. But do they really fulfil us and bring about good fruit? What are the ‘false prophets’ disguised as something good in my life?
Jesus teaches us to discern good and bad by the fruit it produces. We too are called to bear fruit in our lives. What fruit does Jesus want to cultivate in me this year? How am I working with him to bear good fruit, like the good tree in this passage? Today, we can pray for wisdom to see things as he sees, and to weed out anything that does not bring good fruit in my life.
