“It is written that the Christ would suffer and on the third day rise from the dead.”

Luke 24:35-48

In today’s reading, Jesus appears to the disciples with a greeting of peace.  While they were still anxious and terrified, Jesus stepped into their room to show them he was alive!  His presence brought them understanding and a renewed sense of hope.  He had told them that he must fulfil everything written about him, including suffering and rising on the third day.

Pointing to his wounds, he shows them the depth of his love for them; to endure the cross for them, for us.  Is there any part of us that still doubts the reality of the resurrection, his mercy or personal love for us?  Today let us allow Jesus to enter into our reality, including all the parts that are still afraid or doubtful.  Let us pray also for a renewed sense of hope because of his resurrection.  He is alive and is with us and because of him, there is always hope!
