“Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust consume…”
Matthew 6: 19-21
Today’s passage is a powerful reminder about the importance of prioritising eternal values over temporary material possessions. It encourages us to focus on things that have lasting significance and spiritual worth. We are encouraged not to store up treasures on earth. When we invest our time, energy, and resources in building treasures in heaven, we align our priorities with God’s kingdom. Our true treasure lies in our relationship with God and the actions that reflect His love and grace towards others. Our true priorities should be rooted in faith and building a relationship with God, as these are the only things that will last beyond this life on earth. Focusing on accumulating treasures in heaven also implies a deep trust in God’s promises and our willingness to let go of attachments to worldly possessions. It encourages a shift in perspective from seeking temporary pleasures to investing in things with eternal significance. This mindset encourages generosity, humility, and selflessness,
So, where is our eternal treasure, and where does our heart lie?
