“They elected seven men full of the Holy Spirit.”
Acts 6:1-7
The apostles remind us today that our mission, to pray and proclaim the Word of God, must always remain our top priority. They were wise in appointing seven others to help them, showing the people that the task of ensuring fair distribution was still important to them, but at the same time, the mission remained the most important thing. The apostles also showed humility, recognising that they could not do everything on their own and needed the support of others. It was never about relying solely on themselves, but on God, who provides the help we need along the way.
In our everyday lives, we too carry real responsibilities, but like the apostles, we must not let them distract us from the calling God has placed before us. We are invited to follow the example of the apostles, to seek wisdom through prayer and discernment, and to always do God’s
will.
