“Put away from you all bitterness… and be kind to one another, tender hearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ has forgiven you.”

Ephesians 4:31–32

God forgives us so that we may forgive others. Forgiveness is a grace that comes from him and flows through us, enabling us to be kind, compassionate, and merciful toward others. Today, instead of fixating on the sins of others, let’s spend time reflecting on how he has first forgiven us and the grace he has given us, with the hope that it may reach others through us.

We are called to see how God’s mercy has touched us and how generous he has been with us, even though we do not deserve it. If we have truly experienced God’s forgiveness in our hearts, we will find ourselves willing to forgive others as well. This is because we not only recognise how sinful we ourselves are, but we have also experienced the peace that comes with God’s forgiveness. We know that only when we forgive others can peace remain with us. We pray and ask God today to open our hearts to his mercy, so that his forgiveness may flow through us to others.
