“The Spirit of your Father will be speaking in you.”

Matthew 10:16-23

Jesus’ words today in the gospel are quite confronting. In sending out his disciple’s Jesus warns them to be prepared for persecution. When we carry out the mission, share our faith, or even share with others about our own spiritual life, we may face opposition, indifference, or even prosecution and be ridiculed for our faith. However, this is no reason to stop sharing our faith. Nor should we shy away from sharing our faith because we feel we don’t have the words.  Jesus tells us not to be afraid of what we are to say, but to trust that the Holy Spirit will give us the words to say.

Jesus encouraged us to take refuge in each other. How important these words are. We need to encourage, support, and walk with one another when we carry out the mission. Let us pray for the gift to persevere in the midst of trials and difficulties, and to have great love as we walk with others.
