“You received without charge: give without charge.”
Matthew 10:7-15
Jesus’ commission to his disciples is simple, yet challenging: take no baggage, no money, and let the peace of God direct you. He invites the disciples, and us, to be more united to him and his mission, with complete trust and a humble dependence on him. How do we respond to this? Are we tempted to pride, desiring to know what is ahead and plan where, how and when we will get there? Or do we trust in God’s providence and take each day as a gift, that he will provide all that we need, in his perfect timing?
We have received so much from the Lord; faith, hope, forgiveness, and unconditional love. Today Jesus invites us give freely to others as well. Let us be open in prayer to receive whatever Jesus has for us, and be led by him to respond to the needs of others around us today.
