“I preached what the others preach, and you all believed.”

1 Corinthians 15:1-11

In today’s reading, St Paul affirms the basic Christian ‘kerygma’ or proclamation of the gospel message, that Jesus died for our sins, was buried, and rose again on the third day, defeating sin and death.  This is the essence of our faith which we are called to remember for ourselves, and pass on to others.  In a similar way, we need to be ready to answer the reason for our faith and hope, in Jesus. How would we summarise this to share with others?

As Paul notes, it is only by the grace of God within us that we are able to follow Jesus and preach to others through our words and actions.  As we pray today, we can reflect, how is God’s grace at work in my life, and how do I see it at work in the lives of those around me?  How do I need to grow in humility and a greater dependence on God?
