“We are witnesses to all this, we and the Holy Spirit.”
Acts 5:27-33
Through the power and presence of the holy Spirit, the apostles were transformed from being fearful and afraid, to boldly preaching in the name of Jesus. They knew that God was calling them to speak and preach the news of Jesus’resurrection. Despite already having been thrown into jail, they told the Sanhedrin, ‘We must obey God rather than any human authority’.
It is because of these apostles that we have the faith today. Imagine if they had remained silent and had not spread the news of Jesus’ resurrection? We can give thanks for the gift of faith and all those apostles who came after them and helped my own faith journey. How am I called to be obedient to God, and be an apostle today? Where do I need to call on the holy Spirit for greater courage? Today, let us ask the holy Spirit to help us witness to others today.
