“Your father Abraham saw my Day and was glad.”
John 8:51-59
In today’s reading, Jesus continues to be questioned by the religious leaders. He speaks with authority and of his shared mission and relationship with God the Father, which troubled many of the Jews. While Abraham rejoiced and was glad to see Jesus, many of the Jews were not glad, and were not even open to see their awaited messiah before them. What joy and gladness they missed out on. In what could have been a moment of encounter, became a moment of driving him away.
How about us? Can we say we are also united to God the Father today? Are we open to his movements in our life? Do we allow Jesus to encounter us, or do we drive him away? Today, let us pray that God’s word will give us life and strengthen our relationship with the Father, Son and holy Spirit.
