“For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you..”

Matthew 6:14–15

Forgiveness is not always easy, but it is absolutely necessary for us to receive healing and to live with the hope of eternal life. When Jesus taught his disciples how to pray, he said ‘If you forgive others, your heavenly father will also forgive you. What doIneedtoaskGod to forgive me for today? Am I open to receiving his mercy and love, and be at peace?

In the measure we are forgiven, we will be able to extend forgiveness to others. Through forgiveness, we are set free, and become an instrument of God’s own mercy. Do we find it difficult to forgive? Do we keep a score or hold grudges? Are we also able to forgive ourselves?

Today, let us remember God’s boundless mercy and talk to him if we have areas of unforgiveness in our own hearts. He wants to free us from this so that we can become more united to him in love.
