“Your light must shine before others.”
Matthew 5: 13-16
The light of our faith gives glory to our Father in Heaven now, and also into the future. We can reflect how we have received the gift of our faith through the generations who have passed on the Good News and the traditions of the Church since the first Apostles. We received our faith from our family, friends, Missionaries and other religious, but we can trace that gift all the way back to Jesus and to the Jewish people who were faithful to God in the Old Testament.
Jesus also gives us the light of our faith directly through God’s Word and through the sacraments. He calls us to let our light shine before others, that they may see our good deeds and glorify our Father in heaven. God’s light can shine through us as it has through Christians through the ages to guide the lives of people for hundreds of years into the future. Thank you, God, for all of your people who have been faithful throughout the ages, so that we have the gift of our faith to share.
