“The harvest is rich but the labourers are few.”
Matthew 9:32-37
Why do we evangelise as members of the Verbum Dei community? Are we all great preachers or Bible experts? Are we more holy than everyone else? No, but Jesus needs us because people are harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. We may not feel worthy of this mission, but we don’t have to worry. We are only the workers. Jesus is the Lord of the harvest, and He is in control.
We may think that evangelisation is the job of the Missionaries. But we go to places and meet people who the Missionaries and priests and other religious don’t know. People who ask us about our faith are interested in our experiences, not just in theology. To reach them, we just need to share our genuine feelings about why we follow Jesus. If we are open, the Holy Spirit will give us the words. Jesus, the harvest is plentiful and people are in need. Please send us out and be with us as we share your Good News of salvation.
