 “Love your enemies.”

Luke 6:27-38

Today’s reading talks about loving our enemies. However, practically, it is hard to love someone you don’t even like in the first place. This is the struggle we all have to face if we want to follow Jesus. “Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who abuse you.” This is what God is telling us. So, how can we follow the gospel in Luke 6:27-38? Loving our enemy means we have to try not to do bad things otherwise. If your enemy throws a stone at you; you need to throw a bread in return. This means you have to be patient and not indulge in the temptation of revenge.

Every time we help someone, we must not help because we want to gain something. We need to learn to do things without expecting any reward. Give to others what you have, even in little ways. Pray for the inners that they will return to God. Do good to others even if they are not good to you. Help the poor, for they are the most loved by God.
