“Give the word, and my servant will be healed.”
Luke 7:1-10
Today, we witness the Centurion’s great faith and trust in Jesus. Despite the Centurion’s great authority and status, he knows that his authority and power are limited. Therefore, he approached Jesus to seek healing for his sick servant. He said the words that we ourselves say at Mass every Sunday, “I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof, but only say the Word and my servant shall be healed….”
How is our faith and trust in Jesus’ healing power? Do we believe in the power of Jesus’ word? Do we believe in Jesus enough to bring their need before the Lord? when we bring others that are in need of healing? Can we admit that we need his help?
Let us grow in our faith to have compassion like this Centurion so that we may see those around us who are in need of healing and are in need of Jesus in their lives. In humility may we place our trust in Jesus, believing that all things are possible with him.
