“’The Lord is a holy God, a jealous God.”
Joshua 24:14-29
Today, we are reminded that is God the Father who brings us salvation, just as he did for the people of Israel. Just like society today, we are influenced by many “gods” and ideals that can come in the form of material possessions as well as people. The Prophet Joshua shows us that we are to serve the Lord and in Him alone, for only he can save us from our situations. Have there been situations where we have needed God to intervene in our lives to live more in hope and draw more strength from Him?
God knows what we truly need and went to great extremes to set us free from the slavery of this world. We are called to serve and obey his word and renew our commitment to him, as God is a God of love, mercy and compassion, always calling us back to him, from wherever we have fallen away from him in life. God sets us on the right path. Let us seek him as our point of reference when we live out each day.
