Friday 6th of June
“Feed my lambs, feed my sheep.”
John 21:15-19
As we approach the celebration of Pentecost, we are reminded that the Holy Trinity is always working for our good. In our passage today, we see Jesus coming to the encounter with Peter to reinstate him to his place as the leader of the apostles. After Peter denied Jesus, we can imagine that Peter would have felt quite disappointed himself. Jesus calls Peter again, giving him the opportunity to affirm his love for Jesus and his desire to carry out the mission.
There are moments in our lives when we, too, are disappointed with ourselves for the choices we make in our relationship with Jesus. Jesus too comes to us, and asks us these questions, but…”Do you love me? How will we respond? Let us open our hearts to Jesus and renew our love for Him, so that we may be ready to receive the Holy Spirit on Sunday.
