“David himself calls him Lord.”
Mark 12:35-37
Who is Jesus for us? This is the question we are invited to reflect on today. In the gospel passage today, the scribes say the Messiah is the son of David and, therefore, inferior to David. However, in front of the crowd, Jesus clarifies the erroneous position of the scribes. Jesus, as we know, is the beloved son of the Father, the Son of God, human and divine. When Jesus reveals the truth of who he is, are we filled with delight? Or are we seeking, perhaps unconsciously, someone more significant than he? Today let us have the humility and the openness to enter into the mystery of who Jesus is as revealed in the Scripture so that we can experience the joy, peace, and love that only he can give us.
