“Why be envious because I am generous?”

Matthew 20:1-16

It is easy for us to compare ourselves to others, focusing on what we lack or what they seem to have in abundance. However, Jesus loves us all equally as his beloved children. It is up to us to cherish this love, to be grateful, and to be confident that he always provides for and looks after us.

Whether we feel we need his blessings more, work hard to grow closer to him or share what we have, we could still become unhappy when we compare ourselves to others. This unhappiness is often due to a negative attitude or prejudice we are unaware of. In these moments, prayer can help us overcome that negativity. Are we truly happy with what we have? Or do we complain to Jesus when we feel we have received less than others?
