“Jesus sheds tears over the coming fate of Jerusalem”

Luke 19:41-44

Jesus wept over Jerusalem, feeling deep sorrow for their rejection. He wept because of his love for them, and wanting the very best for them. Jesus says, “If this day you only knew what makes for peace” – himself. Jesus is the one who mediates peace – he is the prince of peace.

Today, we are invited to sit with Jesus in this passage and share our own concerns and sorrows especially for what is taking place in our world today. We have the opportunity whenever we take time to pray, to experience the peace Jesus offers, even in the midst of trials and adversities, remembering that Jesus is with us always. What are we feeling today? Do we share this with Jesus? How does he share in our suffering and comfort us? Today, we pray that we may know what makes for peace in our own hearts and that our world may know it too.
