“The Advocate, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you everything.“
John 14:21-26
In today’s passage, Jesus emphasises that true love for Him is shown by keeping His commandments, and those who do so will be loved by the Father and experience His presence in a personal and intimate way. Jesus teaches that love is not merely an emotion but an active commitment to live according to God’s will. Human love can be conditional, but God’s love is unconditional and constant, offering a model for how we are called to love others. Jesus encourages us to live in active love and obedience, trusting that God’s presence will sustain, teach, and remind us of His truth, transforming our hearts and actions in daily life.
Jesus promises the Holy Spirit, the Advocate, who will teach, guide, and remind believers of all He has said. The Spirit acts as a continual source of wisdom and understanding, helping us apply Jesus’ teachings in daily life. Through prayer and reflection, we can allow the Spirit to deepen our understanding and enable us to share God’s love with others. John 14:21-26 reminds us that our love for Jesus is expressed through obedience and that the Holy Spirit will guide, teach, and dwell within those who follow Him. Do you focus your prayers on this reminder?
