“Be united in your love.”
Philippians 2:1-11
How do we respond when someone offers us advice? Are we open to receiving it, or does it depend on who gives it and how it is delivered? Sometimes, pride can make us resistant, especially when we feel that we already know what is best. Yet St Paul reminds us that what matters most is not being right, but having the mind of Christ. He calls us away from worldly ambition, comparison and rivalry, and invites us to embrace the attitude of Jesus. And Jesus’ attitude is one of humility, obedience, gentleness, patience, kindness, love and respect. Jesus shows us that true greatness is found not in proving ourselves, but in surrendering ourselves to God.
When we compare ourselves with others, we can easily seek our worth in what we do, what we achieve, or how others see us. But when we know God deeply loves us, we no longer need to prove our value. Our dignity comes from Him. Let us ask Jesus for the gift of humility, so we can open our hearts to listen, receive, and grow in love.
