Sunday 5th of April
Easter Sunday
“He must rise from the dead.”
John 20:1-9
Mary Magdalene and the disciples are still in darkness, grieving the absence of their Lord deeply. The light of the resurrection was about to dawn. When Mary brings the news of the empty tomb, Peter and the Beloved Disciple run there. The beloved disciple sees the burial cloths, carefully arranged, and this leads him to believe in the risen Christ, even without seeing Jesus directly.
These signs recall the raising of Lazarus, but the disciple understands them through faith and love, recognising the presence of the risen Lord. How can we “see” and “read” such signs of the living God in our personal experiences, our families, and the wider world? How can we, through faith, come to recognise that Jesus is alive and at work among us?
Jesus is alive. May we take some time to encounter his Risen presence in our lives.
Hoppy Easter! The Lord has Risen!
