“Forgive as the Lord forgave you.”
Colossians 3:12–14
This week, we’ve been invited to open our hearts to God’s mercy and forgiveness, the doorway that leads us to lasting peace and eternal life. I wonder, how has this experience been for you? In today’s reading, St. Paul reminds the community about some key aspects of Christian living. One of these is the call to forgive others, just as God has forgiven us. It’s not always easy, but I think we know deep down that we can’t truly forgive others unless we’ve first experienced God’s forgiveness ourselves. That begins when we recognise our own need for His mercy and become aware of our own weaknesses and limitations.
When we’re honest about our struggles and open to God’s healing, our hearts naturally soften and become more willing to forgive. We begin to share with others the same peace and mercy that God so freely gives to us. So today, let’s ask God for the grace and humility to recognise our own need for mercy, so that we may truly experience the gift of His forgiveness — and be ready to share that gift with those around us.
