“Remember your creator in the days of your youth.”

Ecclesiastes 11:9-12:8

Have you ever thought about pursuing a new skill, changing jobs, or simply doing something different from what you would normally do, but always felt it was “too late”? It can be discouraging when our hearts want to try something, but our minds, or perhaps even our circumstances, tell us otherwise.

In today’s reading, we are faced with a similar question: “What do we need to do before the end of our lives, and even before the end times?” Perhaps we already know in our hearts what we must do, whether it is to forgive someone, live out our faith more boldly, or let go of something we have been holding on to for far too long. But it has always felt a little “too late” to start now. If we feel this way, we can ask Jesus to help us understand what is holding us back. We pray that, through his grace, we can take the next step toward choosing a life that places God’s will before our own and one that prepares us to meet our Creator. He assures us that it is never “too late” whenever we choose to begin today.
