“What do you have that was not given to you?”
1 Corinthians 4:6-15
Karl Keating quotes that “All are redeemed, but not all are saved”. In today’s passage, St. Paul reminds us not to be proud like the Corinthians, who already consider themselves “satisfied,” “rich,” and “kings.” They seem assured that because they have been redeemed through St. Paul’s proclamation of the cross, they will certainly be saved.
Yet as long as we live on earth, temptations that can lead to our fall are always around us, and we must guard ourselves against them through consistent prayer and works of faith. We must do all we can each day, instead of becoming complacent whenever we feel spiritually secure. Let us pray for the grace to keep preparing for Christ’s coming and not allow pride to hinder us from living out our faith as fully as possible each day.
