“God chose what is foolish by human reckoning, to shame the wise.”

1 Corinthians 1:26-31

It’s hard to admit our weaknesses, whether we’re ill but not wanting to take a break, or a struggle we’re facing but don’t want to talk about. Maybe that’s because the world teaches us to present ourselves as always competent, always in control, always doing well.

But today’s passage reminds us that, first and foremost, we must be willing to admit that we are not the smartest, not the most capable, and certainly not the strongest. And that’s okay! Our job isn’t to become all those things on our own; that’s God’s work. When we admit our weaknesses, we create space for him to work in us. We acknowledge that we need him on this journey as we seek to grow into better people and do what is right.

So instead of constantly trying to prove we’re stronger than we really are, we lay it all at the Father’s feet today. Tell him about every inadequacy, and invite him into every area that needs his touch.
