Holy Saturday
A day of silence – Jesus is in the Tomb

Mother Mary was one who pondered and kept all things in her heart. She did not keep them in her heart because she was relying on herself to understand, but because she trusted in God and believed that all things would be revealed in time.

Jesus’ death, though a source of deep grief for her, did not change who she was. Even then, she remained the same woman who had trusted God and said yes to the angel during the Annunciation. She was the same woman who, even after hearing Simeon’s words, “…sorrow, like a sharp sword, will break your own heart” still chose to trust God. She then became the woman who stood at the foot of the cross and entrusted her new life to God, now as the mother of the disciples and of all believers.

She continued to trust even before she saw the resurrection of Jesus. And we are called to do the same. It is easy to trust when everything is clear to us, when we see Jesus risen and glorious. But there will be times when things may not seem that way or have not been revealed to us. Can we continue to trust God in those moments? Today, we ask Mother Mary to help us have faith like hers and to place our wholehearted trust in God.
