“Though your sins are scarlet, they shall be white as snow.”

Isaiah 1:16-18

Our reading today says, “Come now, let us set things right again, says the Lord,” which shows God’s desire for us to cooperate with Him by choosing good. This is in line with His will for us, a will and plan that has always been without sin. We can see this as a reset, where not only do we forgive others, but also ask for forgiveness for our own wrongdoings.

In seeking forgiveness, we also recognise each day as an opportunity to start anew and to avoid the habitual sins that separate us from God. However, as difficult as it may sound, we know that we do not do this on our own, but with God’s help and through his power. Only He can truly save us from our sins and make us “white as snow”. We come to Him today, trusting that our sins are not greater than He is, and that He can truly transform us if we let him.
