“The Lord alone is our judge.”
1 Corinthians 4:1-5
Whose opinion of us do we value – our family’s, our friends’ or our boss’s opinion? St Paul tells us, “The Lord alone is our judge.” We should focus on how Jesus sees us more than how others see us. When he comes to judge us, he will light up all that is hidden in the dark and reveal the secret intentions of our hearts. Will he find us to be worthy of his trust?
We can see ourselves as Jesus sees us by being open to His Word and to the sacrament of Reconciliation. In our prayer, we can apply the Bible to our lives and ask Jesus how we can live out his loving message more fully. Also, we can go to Reconciliation and ask Jesus, “How did I fail in my following of you?” Then Jesus will give us the grace of forgiveness and he will restore our relationship with him. Jesus, please help us to be good stewards of our talents and of your Gospel, so that you will praise us for our trustworthiness when we meet you face to face.
