Thursday 24th September
“In every age, O Lord, you have been our refuge.
”Psalm 89(90):3-6,12-14,17
Today’s Psalm reminds us of God’s eternity and our own human frailty. How short our time on earth is, yet how often do we lose sight of this reality as we get caught up in our day-to-day demands and obligations? As followers of Jesus, we are called to have our eyes set on eternity, rather than just the here and now. When we weigh up our problems in the scheme of eternity, how much weight do they really hold?
Today, we again come to God in prayer, asking for the gift of wisdom of heart. True wisdom starts with reverencing God and putting him first, rather than on ourselves. We also humbly ask him to fill us again with his love, which is the fuel and source for our lives. Lord, you are our refuge – help us to remember you this day, and live this day alongside you.
