“Now he showed how perfect his love was.”
John 13:1-15
Today’s reading exemplifies the perfect love of Jesus, humbling himself to serve and wash his disciple’s feet. His love knows no limits, as he loved them to the very end. Jesus loves us the same. As we meditate on this scene, we can imagine Jesus washing our feet too. What is our response to this profound display of humility and love? In what ways do I need to lean humility and allow Jesus to wash my feet, so I may do likewise?
Jesus says, ‘I have given you a model to follow’. Do we follow this way, or expect others to serve us, rather than us becoming one who serves? Are we united to Jesus in our service, or separated?
Today, let us enter into this scene, so that we may encounter the love of Jesus for ourselves. Let us pray for the grace to become more like Him the more we spend time with him.
