“Salvation comes to the house of Zacchaeus.”
Luke 19:1-10
Today we are invited to meditate on this beautiful encounter between Jesus and Zacchaeus. Some days, we are like Zacchaeus, eager not only to get a glimpse of Jesus, but to spend time with him, so much so that we can hardly wait to pause and welcome him into our hearts. We make an intentional effort to get to know him better, and Jesus notices every bit of it. Nothing ever escapes his attention.
When we pray and focus on him, we often recognise where we fall short – whether in our patience, compassion or faith. Yet, when we experience an intimate encounter with Jesus, the desires of our heart are transformed, leading to a true change of heart that reveals what needs to align with him. What areas are we falling short in right now? Do we realise that Jesus sees us the moment we fix our eyes on him?
